Electronics Assembly Technician Training

Students learn to use the latest techniques and tools to ensure high reliability soldering in this two-part, hands-on program.

 

HOW IT CAN HELP

Areas include the universal assembly and repair module covers all aspects of both single and double-sided through-hole circuit board technology plus the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and repair.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The universal assembly and repair module covers all aspects of both single and double-sided through-hole circuit board technology, including: high reliability soldering, solder theory; assembly and rework techniques of wire connections; terminals; axial lead; DIPS; flat packs and multi leaded components.

 

The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and repair module stresses the safe installation and removal of surface-mount components, chip, SOTs, MELF, SOICs, QFPs and PLCC, using the latest equipment and techniques. Upon satisfactory completion of this program, students will be able to make "accept" or "reject" decisions for the appropriate class/classes of electronic assembly production, based upon the acceptability requirements of the IPC-A-610E standard.

HOW IT CAN HELP

Manual machinists are individuals who are able to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Students will learn through hands-on projects and computer-assisted instruction, the basic skills needed to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical and/or precision instruments. Employment may also include fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines.

Welding Training

Students learn entry-level-job skills in the welding processes most commonly used in today’s industries.

 

HOW IT CAN HELP

Students enrolled in this program are provided with opportunities to learn entry-level-job skills in the welding processes most commonly used in today’s industries.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Instruction and practice are provided in oxy-acetylene, shielded-metal-arc, gas-metal-arc, flux-cored-arc and gas-tungsten-arc welding. Theory and applications of these processes are also taught, encompassing both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Safety and safe practices are emphasized throughout the program. Additional instruction is provided in mathematics for welding and blueprint reading. Students will have the opportunity to learn techniques for welder performance qualifications and certification testing. Thermal cutting and gouging techniques using oxy-fuel, plasma-arc and arc-air processes are also covered.

Students support a wide variety of Automated Controls and Instrumentation occupations.

 

HOW IT CAN HELP

This program is designed to support a wide variety of Automated Controls and Instrumentation occupations, involving automated systems, instrumentation, measurements, electric motors, controls systems, robotics, mechatronics, and the application of fluid power systems. In addition, this program follows the guidelines of the International Society of Automation, offering related courses that help to support and prepare for the ISA associate CST examination, as an entrance point.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

This Core Automation will provide the valued skills set required by industries involved in manufacturing, mining, refineries, building automation, renewable energy, and full-on industrial controls systems. The program starts out with a solid foundation of the basic theory, laws, circuits, and fundamentals of AC/DC, solid-state and digital electronics. In addition, the student will learn how to use various test equipment for trouble-shooting and repair of electronic circuits. This course covers electronic components, how they function, and how to test devices. Students learn the skills required of an Automation and Instrumentation Technician to understand, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair modern electronic automated systems. Coverage of industrial data communications is also included, as well as applications, theory and project based programmable logic controllers.
