Join Utah First Lady Abby Cox at her Show Up for Teachers conference that convenes K-12 teachers, superintendents and administrators from all school districts in Utah and is designed to support teachers to thrive both personally and professionally, helping them prepare students for the current workforce demands from across the state. The one day conference is an opportunity to support as a community leader, show your appreciation for teachers, and help shape their expectations as they seek to best prepare the future of Utah’s Manufacturing industry. This conference is also partnered with Utah Business and Deseret News to host the Honors in Education Gala—recognizing 20 exceptional Utah educators and five Utah businesses who are doing exceptional work to support schools and educators.

Detailed Description

UAMP is a 12-week CNC machinist training program created through a partnership between:

  • Columbus Community Center
  • Utah Manufacturers Association
  • Salt Lake Community College
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Uniquely Abled Academy

Program includes:

  • 300 hours of technical CNC training at SLCC
  • 60 hours of soft-skills and job-readiness instruction
  • Employer site visits, mentorship, and hands-on experience
  • Ongoing coaching and support for both employee and employer

Graduates are trained and ready to fill roles such as:

  • CNC Operator
  • Machinist Apprentice
  • Mill/Lathe Technician

 

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no cost to participating manufacturers. Vocational Rehabilitation covers student tuition and coaching. Long-term sustainability is supported by employer participation fees and industry investment.

Food Safety: Preventive Controls (PCQI) Certification Class

The FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act required that each FDA-registered food facility have a PCQI-certified designate responsible for developing, overseeing, and managing the organization’s food safety plan. The FDA recognizes this course as meeting the requirements to become a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI). Individuals completing this training will receive a certificate from the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA).

Electronics Assembly Technician Training

Students learn to use the latest techniques and tools to ensure high reliability soldering in this two-part, hands-on program.

 

HOW IT CAN HELP

Areas include the universal assembly and repair module covers all aspects of both single and double-sided through-hole circuit board technology plus the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and repair.


DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The universal assembly and repair module covers all aspects of both single and double-sided through-hole circuit board technology, including: high reliability soldering, solder theory; assembly and rework techniques of wire connections; terminals; axial lead; DIPS; flat packs and multi leaded components.

 

The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and repair module stresses the safe installation and removal of surface-mount components, chip, SOTs, MELF, SOICs, QFPs and PLCC, using the latest equipment and techniques. Upon satisfactory completion of this program, students will be able to make "accept" or "reject" decisions for the appropriate class/classes of electronic assembly production, based upon the acceptability requirements of the IPC-A-610E standard.

 

Certificate of Achievement: 241 Hours
